Kendra is a three-time Helen Hayes award winner for Outstanding Costume Design. She has designed well over 100 productions, including International, NYC, DC, and Regional stagings of theater, opera and dance.
DC area credits include, among many others: Round House Theatre — Or (2018 Hayes Award), The Book of Will; Synetic Theatre — The Island of Doctor Moreau (2015 Helen Hayes Award), The Adventures of Peter Pan (2018 Helen Hayes nomination), Alice in Wonderland (2016 Helen Hayes nomination), Beauty and the Beast (2015 Helen Hayes nomination), Twelfth Night (2015 Helen Hayes nomination); Constellation Theatre — The Green Bird (2012 Helen Hayes Award), Journey to the West (2017 Helen Hayes nomination); Imagination Stage — The Magic Finger (2014 Helen Hayes nomination), Anatole: Mouse Magnifique; Olney Theatre Center: The King and I, Elf the Musical; Theater J — Talley’s Folly, Everything is Illuminated; Theater Alliance — Dontrell Who Kissed the Sea; Adventure Theatre MTC — Three Little Birds; Signature Theatre — Spunk (in production).
Kendra’s design for Three Little Birds was also seen off-Broadway at the New Victory Theater. National and International tours include Opera Lafayette productions of Cosi fan tutti and Les Femmes Vengees.
In addition to her Helen Hayes awards, Kendra is a Princess Grace Honorarium recipient and a member of United Scenic Artists. She has been a Draper and a Costume Shop Manager, and has held faculty, lecturer, and adjunct positions at Gallaudet University, University of Pittsburgh, Howard University, and Virginia Commonwealth University.
